Charlie Dimmock creates a buzz

Dimmock-DearsleyCharlie Dimmock is a lover of all things green and when not appearing on our television screens is very much at home in her own Hampshire garden. She is also a lover of wildlife and passionate about saving our planet for future generations.

So it comes as no surprise that over the last few months Charlie has been learning all about beekeeping from James Dearsley, a well-known beekeeper, who runs the popular blog www.surreybeekeeper.co.uk

As a result of their teacher/student experience, Charlie and James have created a DVD called  'Beekeeping for Beginners' in association with Stitchcombe Productions.  James takes Charlie on a journey that becomes a course in beekeeping, teaching her the main elements from the purchase of your hive and bees to maintaining the bee colony and the excitement of extracting her first batch of honey.

The video also takes the viewer on a journey to meet other bee experts and discover where to get your bees, how to keep them healthy and how to stop them swarming.

"James and I hope that you will take this journey of discovery into beekeeping with us both and become a beekeeper as it really is a rare treat," explains Charlie.  "It gets you outside, and you don't need a lot of space.  It is for both the young and the old and this DVD can also teach your children where food comes from and we also hope that it will also save the plight of the honeybee for future generations."

James points out that there is so much to learn about bees that you never get bored of them. His blog now has a large and loyal following from beekeepers all over the world. To find out more log onto: www.surreybeekeeper.co.uk
